Weather Station Down

Made some progress with the weather station software but the daily graphs are all black, weekly, monthly and yearly show a blip of data but mostly black. Still working on it though.

Welcome to Rownetco

Rownetco is a technology company that provides network infrastructure installation and support, Web presence (domain name registration, dynamic IP to DNS resolution) and server based solutions, i.e. Apache web server, WebGUI Content Management, MySQL database, Squid proxy server, AWStats and W3PERL statistics reporting, Samba file sharing and Zimbra e-mail / calendaring all running on Linux.

Linux is an Operating System (OS) with lower implementation and lower ongoing costs than those offered by Microsoft.

Linux runs well on legacy hardware but better on retired server type (multi-processor) machines available on .

The weather information (bottom left) is recorded and forwarded to the Weather Underground by a 100 MHz Pentium 1 Compaq with 80 megabytes of RAM. This same machine also routes two Ethernet and one Token Ring networks. The only time this 100MHz Compaq has been down has been due to prolonged power outages exceeding the capabilities of the UPS. In other words, in 9 years this Linux machine has NEVER had the equivalent of a "blue screen of death".

Apple Macbook Pro

Lately my Windows XP Media Center machine has been randomly blue-screening on me. It started after one of the (seems like weekly) patches Microsoft pushes down to address the chronic security flaws in their operating systems. I'm tired of the bugs and problems. I've been a Linux advocate for 11 years now but also watching Apple since 1984. I had an Apple laptop back in the 80s but it was under powered. I'm happy to say I've purchased a Macbook Pro and will look to minimize the time I waste with Windows. Linux is great, OS/X looks very much similar.
